Oh what a week! It started off with celebrating Craig’s actual birthday and a newborn session with dear friends, continued with a birthday lunch for one of my favorite college friends, and the weekend was packed with 4 photo sessions, football, and lots of editing. It’s a good thing I actually prefer staying busy — and I wouldn’t have it any other way because that means time with my main squeeze, friends, and a growing photography business! Looking forward to much of the same this weekend. Who’s excited for Halloween?!

Craig’s birthday falls right in the middle of football season. Without fail, there is either a home Georgia or Auburn game — or one of them is in Nashville (playing Vandy) every year around his birthday, so we’re always traveling. Not complaining, but it’s nice to be home for bdays every so often. This year, the stars aligned and we were in town over his birthday weekend, so we hosted a birthday tailgate in his honor (and also in honor of our friend and resident tailgate chef, Joel, whose bday was last weekend).

We set up shop downstairs with a chili bar and all the fixings, and our sweet friends added some other dishes to the tailgating mix. It was a perfect way to ring in 32 for Craig, and in between FIVE photo sessions over the weekend, I spent the rest of it celebrating my favorite person with dinner at bartaco on the Westside, lunch out on Monday, and a home-cooked filet dinner to finish it off. Happy Birthday, love!

Last week was a busy one! Our dear friends welcomed baby #2 into their lives on Thursday, and we rushed over to the hospital to meet her as soon as we could. Our “friend family” is growing more and more each new baby, and I just love it. Getting to watch them grow over the years, and hopefully having our own to add to the mix, is something I really look forward to!

I worked much of the weekend, shooting a beautiful wedding at Roswell River Landing on Saturday and a mini milestone baby session on Sunday – and then editing away in between. I am so grateful that my MHP business is almost completely booked for the rest of the fall season! I look forward to sharing sneak peeks here from some of my sessions – I have a lot of cute families and newborns lined up!

restaurant review:: Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand

Last weekend, Craig and I were in search of a good lunch spot to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. We didn’t want any of the same old places we usually frequent, but we did want something cheap-ish, somewhere interesting or new, and somewhere to sit outside. As we were driving somewhat aimlessly toward the Westside, Craig suggested Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand, which we’d driven by recently. I have heard great things about the East Atlanta location, and I believe this 2nd installment is fairly new. I love that they have a decent amount of parking (especially for a pretty small restaurant), and that they used an empty shipping container for outdoor seating on top of the restaurant.  It was the perfect day for dining outside, and the food was yummy and different…. all focused on chicken sausage, of course.

So many chicken choices…. even a couple that include grilled Krispy Kreme donuts!

I chose the Southern Sanchez Sliders (chorizo chicken sausage, pimiento cheese, sweet pickles) on really soft rolls with a side of Wedgies (and cheese sauce). YUM! I ate all of my sliders, but I couldn’t finish off the tasty fries.

Craig went with a “Slinger” — the Gunn Slinger, to be exact. (Chorizo chicken sausage, guacamole, salsa, fresh jalapenos, and “comeback” sauce.) His only complaint (if you can call it that) was that he would have preferred pickled jalapenos.

Because the menu is so focused, I doubt we’ll be back often — but when we do visit again, we know it’ll be good.

Another weekend has come and gone… but at least this one finally felt like Fall! In between game day and 2 family photo sessions this weekend, we tried out 2 new (to us) places around town — Shake Shack in Buckhead and Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand on the Westside. Both were delicious — and Delia’s has a really interesting rooftop seating area. We also decked out the house with pumpkins just in time for this gorgeous, albeit chilly, Fall weather. Looking forward to dinner with a friend tonight and then a pretty low-key week before shooting a Roswell River Landing wedding on Saturday!

Favorite Finds

Happy October, friends! Leaves are starting to change, pumpkins and scarecrows are making their way onto front porches and lawns, pumpkin spice everything is being consumed…. if only it would cool off just a bit more here in Atlanta, and it would officially feel like fall. I’ve been following some new bloggers lately, and I’ve been introduced to some pretty great products that I wanted to share with y’all. Enjoy!

1. Sole Society Booties:: I had been in the market for a great pair of booties for fall when this post from popped up in my news feed. The Chelsa Bootie from Sole Society was recommended as an all-around great shoe, and I was pretty excited to find out that I’d get 20% off my first purchase on the website. The fit is great, they’re super comfy, and they have a few different color options. I think I’m going to get tons of wear out of these this fall and winter.

2. Clarisonic:: Now I realize this is no new thing, but I just love mine so much, I wanted to share. I’d had my eye on it for a while, and Craig surprised me with the Mia 2 earlier this year. Since the day I got it, I’ve used it religiously (meaning every night), and I am really happy with the results thus far. I felt like my skin was never clean enough from face wash alone, and this guys really does the trick. I love that the brush has an internal timer so that no part of your face is scrubbed too excessively. It’s super easy to travel with, and they offer several different types of brushes and cleansers for different needs and skin types.

3. Painted Earth Skin Care::  I just recently learned about this Roswell, GA skincare company, which was founded as an alternative to pore-clogging, chemical-filled skincare products. They offer organic, natural, and non-toxic products… that actually work! I was interested in the Vitamin C Face Serum, but the bottle was almost $100. Thankfully, they offer smaller samples for a minimal price, so I ordered one to try it out. I also got the Boo Boo Gel, which is great for blemishes, small cuts and burns, bug bites… you name it. I’ve been using it for about a week now, and have already seen results. I’m happy I’ve found a great skin care line that I can feel safe using.

4. Circle Skirt:: My favorite blogger, Jessica of Little Baby Garvin, posted about the black and white version of this pleasted circle skirt a few weeks ago, and I immediately went to Target to find it. Of course Target likes to crush hopes dreams by never keeping the best items in stock for more than 24 hours, so that guy was long gone. BUT — I did find the black one, and I love it. It’s a really nice, structured fit, but the waist is super stretchy and comfy. I paired with a silky hot pink top for a wedding recently and plan to wear it with chambray this fall.

5. Britt Bass Turner Artwork:: I cannot help but sing “all about that bass” every time I see this local Atlanta artist’s name. I bet she’s really over that song by now. I am a new fan of Britt Bass’s abstract paintings, and I just love the beautiful colors and whimsy in her work. She sells large canvases, but for those on more of a budget, she offers print versions as well — and really cute pillows, notebooks, coasters, and phone cases to boot! She’s also now offering something called a Studio Sesh, which is a day-long painting workshop where participants experiment with different types of materials, hone in on their personal style, and hear about Britt’s process for her work. I’d love to do something like this one day with a friend!
