# weeks: 22 — baby is the size of a spaghetti squash!
Measuring approx 8 inches and weighing 1 pound!
Photo location: Rosemary Beach, FL
We spent the weekend on the Gulf Coast for our friends Erin and Chris’s wedding, and it was a much-needed vacation! Rosemary and all of the little beach towns along 30-A are such charming places to visit — can’t wait to go back!
Best moment this week: Our weekend at the beach! I grew up spending time on the beaches in St. Augustine and Siesta Key in Florida, and being by the ocean is one of my favorite things in the world. We had such a fun time with perfect weather, great friends, and a beautiful wedding.
Miss anything: It would have been nice to partake in some beach drinks along with our friends, but I enjoyed the wedding cake (I chose the chocolate peanut butter layer, which was divine) — and a Krispy Kreme donut that was passed out at the end of the reception!
Cravings: There’s nothing that I just have to have right now, but I still have a major sweet tooth. And I try to get as much fruit in as possible.
Feeling good/bad: Feeling great — and enjoying the tan I got while at the beach!
Baby purchases/gifts: Our neighbors gave us the sweetest little ceramic lamb and “Blessings for Baby Girl” book, and a friend who is also a mama-to-be gifted us with the most adorable Bla Bla Dolls rattle and Honest Company shampoo. It smells so good that I want to keep it for myself! We’re also moving along on the nursery… we got a faux sheepskin rug and have ordered blackout curtains. Here’s hoping that white, furry rug won’t immediately be covered in Coco’s hair… wishful thinking, right?
Looking forward to: My mom coming in town this weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day! We’re planning some fun meals out, as well as mani/pedis for us girls… and I’m sure we’ll do some shopping for baby H.
# weeks: 20 — baby is the size of a mango!
Measuring approx 6.5 inches long and 10 oz.
Photo location: The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC
We spent last weekend in Asheville for my friend Anna’s wedding, and the #1 item on my list was visiting the Biltmore. I’ve wanted to go for a long time, but that almost didn’t happen when I tried to buy Saturday tickets online, and they were sold out. Who would have thought that grounds that large would sell out?! We decided to stick around Sunday morning so we could visit, and although it rained the entire time, it was worth the trip.
Best moment this week: Finding out the gender and sharing the news with our families and friends!!! Although it was obviously a 50/50 chance of having a girl or boy, I still can’t quite believe I get to have a little girl! We’re beyond thrilled – and Craig’s already making plans to find the nearest convent to send her to once she’s a teenager. 😉
Miss anything: While in Asheville, I missed getting to try beer from some of the many local breweries, but I made do with sipping chocolate instead.
Cravings: Nothing too notable this week!
Feeling good/bad: Feeling great! Life is good.
Baby purchases/gifts: We’ve made some more headway on the nursery… I found a really cute side table at Target, and I picked up a pair of airy, metal-frame bookcases from IKEA that we plan to spray paint gold and put on either side of the crib. I’m also currently eyeing a gorgeous white campaign dresser, so we’ll see if that makes its way to our house soon.
Looking forward to: Jumping into next week because we leave for Rosemary Beach!! We’ll be celebrating our good friends Erin and Chris as they join the married club. I’m also just thrilled to be spending 3 days on the Gulf shore, especially so early into the beach season!
We have some big news to share this week…. we’re having a BABY!!
We found out that I was pregnant on Friday, January 2nd, and I couldn’t have imagined a better way to start off the new year and a new chapter in our lives. It was a long wait until our first doctor’s appointment in February, so we have had to do everything possible to not spill the beans to anyone who would listen ever since then. Our due date is September 9th, so I’m currently almost 13 weeks along.
This baby has been prayed for, hoped for, and is already so very loved. It has been the best feeling in the world getting to share this exciting, life-changing news with our families and dearest friends. We’re over the moon and cannot wait to meet Baby Hayes this fall!
As you can see, Coco is a tad indifferent at the moment. 😉
Stay tuned for the baby bump watch!
